Sumo Wrestling is a full-contact sport in which a wrestler known as Rikishi attempts to drive another Rikishi out of the circular ring or to touch the ground with any part of the body other than the soles of their feet. It is Japan's national sport and is thought to have originated in the country. Japan is the only country in the world where the sport is professionally played, and it is an important element of Japanese culture. The Japan Sumo Association organises professional sumo tournaments, and all of its members (oyakata) are former wrestlers who are the only ones who can train new wrestlers.
